The Junkers Ju 388 was a further development of the Junkers Ju 188, which in turn was based on the well-known Junkers Ju 88. This aircraft, a high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft, had continous imaging devices in it's fuselage "Bomb-tank". It was equipped with a pressurized cabin, and had the latest version of the BMW 801 TJ-0 engine with external air intake. The Junkers Ju 388 L-1, W.Nr. 340284 came from the series production of Allgemeine Transportanlagennesellschaft mbH (ATG) at Leipzig-Mockau. The plane had the On december 23, 1944, between 1:15 pm and 1:47 pm the "340284" was transferred from Leipzip to Kölleda by Flugzeugführer Behrend. (1st factory flight). A second factory flight from Kölleda to Altenburg, also with FF Behrend, took place on January 27, 1945 between 9:52 am and 10:16 am. At the end of war, the apparently intact plane was captured by American troops at Altenburg. At this time, the rear armament was not installed. The Ju 388 was probably scrapped at Altenburg.
